The approach is based on three drive technologies designed to provide the ideal car for any mobility requirements. Firstly vehicles with exceptionally efficient internal combustion engines, secondly vehicles with intelligent hybrid technology and thirdly locally emission-free vehicles with battery or fuel cell. As of 2010 you can already choose a range of Mercedes-Benz models with BlueEFFICIENCY technologies, which enable you to save fuel and conserve the environment. Mercedes-Benz Vito BlueEFFICIENCY now available in Ireland

A fuel consumption of 6.7 l per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 178 g per km - these are figures that were until recently unthinkable for vans in the class up to 3.2 tonnes. Mercedes-Benz Vito BlueEFFICIENCY based on the 115 CDI model achieves those figures with the help of a package of technology: the ECO start-stop function which includes battery and alternator management, improved aerodynamic solutions featuring camera system instead of exterior mirrors, low-friction tyres, an ECO steering servo pump and all new transmission. All of those technological improvements make fuel savings of up to 1.5 l per 100 km possible compared to the standard model.
