ERF badge dropped July 2007
ERF was acquired by MAN from Western Star in 2000. Following financial scandal ERF production in England ceased and Middlewich factory was closed in 2002. ERF became essentially MAN with ERF badge and Cummins engine option. However Cummins were unable to meet Euro4 emission regualations, this option was dropped and trucks were equipped with MAN D20 series engines. In July 2007 MAN announced to cease the supply of ERF badged trucks.

Summerhill Commercials, predecessor of M50 Truck and Van Centre, were official ERF distributors in Ireland before ERF was taken over by MAN. Today, we still have staff that have been trained for ERF products, technicians are still looking after aging Irish ERF fleet, and our Parts Department still have large stock of ERF parts.
